Hi, I’m Yingying. Currently, I’m a Senior User Experience Designer at Amazon Web Services, where I design complex IoT platform experiences. Previously, I designed products spanning financial services, e-commerce, and recruiting.
I transitioned to UX design from computer science, driven by frustration with poorly designed everyday items. What started as curiosity about “why is this so hard to use?” evolved into a career making complex technology more accessible.
Beyond my professional work, I actively experiment with emerging technologies.
I believe the best designers never stop learning, whether from users, teammates, or trying new things. Recently, I’ve been exploring and understanding GenAI’s capabilities and limitations. I share these experiments and learnings on my blog and with the design community.
Recent experiments:
- Building a visual recognition iPhone app using Claude Code, under 6 hours – discovering users delight in AI “mistakes”, an insight I applied to designing error handling
- Programming a simple tic-tac-toe game on hardware using Claude, Arduino – gaining firsthand understanding of the constraints AWS IoT customers face
When I’m not designing, I’m creating sketchnotes, prototyping with AI tools, or spending time with my family.
